Some were done with just minutes to spare. I recall having done one in a wrist cast on a fixed gear back in 2011. And just this August I did one with my mouth wired shut due to a broken jaw. Stubborn persistence. And I'm intentionally taking this month off to break the streak. No R121 for me.

The RBA for the Davis Randonneurs was nice enough to meet me at the finish of my final ride with the award.
Serious congrats. That's some amazing dedication that I'm sure brought incredible experiences along the way - not just grinding out miles for the sake of it..

Very impressive to say the least. Given all the time commitments, obligations, obstacles and general life stuff I cannot fathom how anyone can accomplish this. Would love to hear some statistics and data. Total miles, longest ride, shortest, number of hours, flats, etc. and a story or two.

I'm with the rest on this one; that it a huge, huge lifetime accomplishment and the structure/dedication to get it done is really mind-boggling.

I applaud you and I shake my head in wonder at the same time...

Thanks all. Not gonna lie. The last couple years have been tough motivation wise. Interest in endurance/distance waning and shifting towards the dirt made doing the monthly homework difficult. Two bad crashes including being airlifted both times didn't help!

As for stats, my friend scraped the RUSA database and told me that I had ridden a total of 128 days, 8 hours and 32 minutes of randonneuring events in the ten years I've been involved. 220 events. 57772km. Shortest ride was 100k (the minimum qualifying distance for an event). Longest ride was 1289k during the 2016 SIR Cascade Grand Randonee. Was an amazing route. RWGPS here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27995523

I went out and did a 115k brevet yesterday. It seemed like plenty. I think I'll be back on the full squish this weekend
