PBK shipping
Anybody seeing long delivery times from these UK etailers?
Michelle just got a package yesterday that was shipped exactly 30 days ago. I bought 4 tires over three weeks ago that PBK said shipped next day. Haven't seen them yet. This was once a great source for good prices. It won't take long to kill the goose if shipping delays continues. Dan

I don't think it is particular to PBK but the irregularities of the postal system somewhere. My family is still in the UK and ship packages for my daughters regularly. They are taking about 1 month when mailed first class. When we ship things the other way from here in AZ to the UK they are generally there in less than a week.

On 25 March a book was sent to me from what appears to be a quite reputable French bookstore. I have not yet received anything.
I'm guessing that everything from Europe is being delayed, probably due to security reasons. You might have some laser-printer cartridges from Yemen hidden in with your tires. |

Similar tune here.
Ordered three pairs of Veloflex Master 22's from PBK. 3 weeks ago. I'll remain patient though, as the price has risen by $17 per tire! |

Yeah, I got a small package (4 tires, 6 tubes) in about 5 business days from PBK.
I ordered a helmet from overseas this time, I hope this is just as fast. |

Sent a hub back (they'd sent the wrong spoke count) to Ribble. Arrived 3 days after I sent it. They sent the new one 3 weeks ago. Still waiting.

As mentioned, I dont think this is PBK's fault. Sometimes there is a slowdown with UK mail, sometimes US (or Canadian) customs are -very- slow, etc.
I ordered a set of brake calipers two weeks ago from them, they arrived in 7 days. |

I mailed two rims from Phoenix, AZ to my home address here in BC 4 weeks ago yesterday.
They have not arrived and they were sent International Priority. This is not exclusive to PBK. |

I ordered my front and rear racks separately from Wiggle a couple of weeks ago.
I saw both at my door within 3 days of ordering. |

Royal Mail uses passenger planes to carry freight to the US- this is the cause of the delays due to inspections and limitations by US Homeland Security.. Private carriers such as DHL, UPS etc have their own cargo planes and should be faster. This bulletin is on the Royal Mail website:
USA Start date: 18th November End date: Ongoing Since November 2010, the United States Department of Homeland Security has increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines. As a result, mail entering the US from around the world, and including the UK, that would normally be sent via passenger aircraft must now travel by other means, including ships and cargo planes. This is resulting in an extension to transit times for some items, mainly heavier items, but also Destination Sort bags posted under contract by business customers. We’re really sorry for these unavoidable delays and are doing everything we can to keep mail moving out of and into the UK. We have implemented a number of contingency plans to ensure as much of our customers’ mail reaches the US as quickly as possible and are continuing to work to minimise disruption to our customers, whilst ensuring we comply fully with the US directives and regulations. |

I plan on 3 weeks plus when I order from Europe. Bought tires last month and it was 3 weeks, almost to the day, when I received them.
Tarriffs - now that's another story. |
