Both Sagan and Kwiatkowski decided to play more of a waiting game this year. Nibali was/is on form and hungry. I watched the last hour of racing on YouTube last night. Nibali was on or near the front, just waiting to pounce on the right opportunity. He rode to win, it was all or nothing for him. The other favorites watched each other while Nibali rode away. To quote Sagan,
"I'm very happy for Vincenzo because only him showed the balls and he took a nice victory."
