Praxis crankset compatibility with SRAM drivetrains?

Praxis Zayante cranks are my favorite. I love the sleek, industrial aesthetics. I’m told by my mech that they don’t play particularly well with SRAM drivetrains. (I have an eTap set-up on two upcoming builds)

I’ve seen a few builds using that combination, so I’m a little confused. I would definitely prefer using my Praxis crank for the aesthetics, functionality (I’d prefer a 48/32 over the 11 or 12 speed SRAM offerings) and I’d rather not shell out the $$$ for another crankset.

Any actual experience with a Praxis/eTap combo? Thx.

I think no prob

On my travel bike I used to run Etap 11 rim brake with 48/32 Zyante with zero issues.

I don’t have any experience with it, but just doesn’t sound right.
Why not ask Praxis?

Pretty sure their stock answer would be “yes.”

“BUY THIS IF : You want our lightest carbon road crank that is 10/11/12sp compatible with Shimano/SRAM/Campy drivetrains!”

My mech said that it will work … just not very well or optimally.

I haven't specifically tried with praxis, but I have tried with various other non-axs crank sets, and they sort of work and sort of don't.

Issue number one, with a braze on derailleur tab on my Ritchey, the axs front derailleur Sat too low for anything larger than a 46 tooth large ring. This wouldn't be a problem with a clamp on derailleur, but it's up to you to know what your frames have.

Issue number two was total chain wrap. The axs chain rings only have a 13 tooth max gap between large and small. The front derailleur can make the shift between the larger chainrings, but the rear derailleur does not have the capacity to deal with the difference between big, big and small small if you go with a larger range cassette in the back. You could probably make it work with an 30t Max cassette, but 32-33 might not work, and 34-36 almost certainly won't work.

Works fine.

I'm running AXS and a flat top chain on a 48/32 ringset that's got a Shimano tooth profile. Shifts normally. Wouldn't worry about the chainwrap at all. Been on this setup for 2 years now, no issues.

Praxis crankset compatibility with SRAM drivetrains?

My setup works fine with praxis 48/32 and 11 speed Etap.

Praxis used to "suggest" only Shimano, KMC and Campy chains. That language is now missing from their product info and they say "fully compatible with all drivetrains". So evolution probably took care of whatever issue they had with Sram chains and all is good now.
