Campy 11 speed crank with 10 speed drivetrain

i have a 10 speed alloy Chorus group that i would like to upgrade to Chorus 11 with 5 arm cranks. I intend to start with the 11 speed crankset. Is the 11 speed crankset compatible with the rest of the 10 speed group? Are the rings interchangeable? What about the chain?

Thanks

You can use 11 speed crank with 10 speed components AND chain.

I currently have a 10 sp crank with all 11 sp components as well. No problems

I'm using Athena 11s compact cranks with an otherwise 10s drivetrain and shifters. Works perfectly.

Same here. Been running 11s cranks for years with a 10s Campy group on many bikes. Although I do run an 11s chain on 1 or 2 of the bikes. But that is a different discussion....

What about a 12 speed crank set with 10 speed drive train?

I do not see why it should not work either. I do not know the differences between the 11 and the 12 speed chain but probably is the same theory than between 11 and 10 speed chains... if the internal width is the same than 11 and 10 and others and they only made the chain thinner at the outside, i do not see why it should not work just fine.

THe question is, anybody using 12 speed chain with 10 speed drivetrain?? Extra silent?

Do you match the chain to the crank or to the drive train?

always match the chain to the rear cluster. in this case it's a 9-sp chain.

Be fine. CRs are the same width, just closer together so ‘may’ get some tickle on big ring when in small ring and smallish cogs.
