Not Netflix (and slightly outside the mainstream)--but the National Theatre in the UK is going to broadcasting free versions of its recent performances--one per week (and I think they will stay up for only one day).

First up on Thursday April 2 is 'One Man, Two Guvnors' starring James Corden.

I saw this in a close circuit broadcast eight or nine years ago, and laughed more in one performance than I probably had in the previous decade.

We were able to view it again last night--and it is still the best piece of theatrical farce I have ever seen.

Here's the National Theatre youtube channel (it seems like their are some problems linking from their home page):

Kudos to Netflix for releasing something like this during the quarantine.

I actually fell asleep during the final episode. I think it was more because we binge watched it than anything.

Iceman

On Kanopy streaming, (available through some libraries). Four stars.

In the Otztal Alps, more than 5300 years ago, Kelab returns from a hunting trip to find his settlement raided and his entire tribe, including his wife and son, murdered. Driven by pain and anger, Kelab has only one goal: revenge! Nominated for the Art Cinema Award for Best Feature at the Hamburg Film Festival. "Marked by stunning locations and Jakub Bejnarowicz's fleet, evocative cinematography, Iceman" is almost like something unearthed itself: a recognizable B western sharpened as much by its glints of psychology as by its kinetic savagery." - Robert Abele, The Los Angeles Times

I'm kind of with you on this. I had just cancelled it last month after several months of checking in and just feeling uninspired by 95% of what's on there. It all just feels so mass-produced. TV junk food, which is already junk food anyway, right? Unfortunately, I caved mostly due to the virus and being shut in with a family of 4 becoming increasingly bored. But I tell ya, if I lived in a more scenic spot, near a treeline, with a few bird feeders outside some good, large windows, I'd forget about netflix pretty quickly.

I really haven't watched much TV in years.

I have this tendency to fall asleep when engaged in such passive activity.

But I've watched the first two episodes of "Tiger King."

Feels like my first time doing something that everyone else is doing lol.

Monzon -

Carlos Monzon was a great boxer (87-3-9), avenged each loss, defended his title 14 times etc. and was inducted into the boxing hall of fame.
He was also an ugly and brutal alcoholic who beat women.

watched a newly-released docu about ZZ Top last nite...have a couple of ties to them, so was entertaining to me.

saw them in Indianapolis in the 70s, and got to sit on the stage during the performance (long story).

in the late 80s, had an office mate who had worked for the band as a guitar technician. turns out he was on the same stage in Indy...small world thing.

the film was ok, probably 15 min too long. but, if you like the group's music, worth a watch. you'll at least learn how they came up with their name...

Not on Netflix bit

I just watched “Once Were Brothers,” Robbie Robertson’s documentary about The Band. It was exceptional. https://www.oncewerebrothers.com/. It’s available to rent on Amazon Prime.
