I plan to take advantage of the good weather tomorrow to go out for a 40-mile solo ride. But I know that I'll feel guilty about it.

Sorry, I'm going to ride. Are you going to stop driving all together and just stay in your house? In 40 plus years of riding I have never required a trip to the hospital for a cycling related incident. Can it happen? Of course. Same with driving to work, or the 4 trips to the store looking for fu&#ing toilet paper. Or walking, running, or hiking. Or working in a level 4 prisoner housing unit. I'll be riding solo so maybe my chances are better for staying upright. If the virus goes nuts in my area I'll adjust. Not one confirmed diagnosis in my county yet so I'm going to ride. Sorry if that makes me a jerk.

Still riding outdoors absolutely. Solo rides and the weather in Oregon has been great.

Weather has been great here in Seattle so I have been out everyday. With less traffic, feels like a typical Sunday morning ride.

It's a tough one, this point about using ER services.
Am I not going to drive a car because I might crash? Am I not going to walk because I might get hit by a car? It's spring. Am I not going to plant flowers in a window box because I'm afraid of climbing a ladder? Am I not going to use a saw because I might cut myself? Am I not going to use a knife in the kitchen because I might slice myself? Am I not going to take a shower because I might slip? Am I going to stay on the first floor because I might fall down the stairs? Falls cause 34% of fatal home injuries per the CDC. I'm going for a ride. |

I went for a solo MTB ride today. Coming back I read that this is now forbidden to ride your bike outside in France.

knock on wood, I haven't been to ER for cycling related injuries in 50 years of riding.
Back off a bit for control, double look lights, reduce pack riding and crash risks go down. |

Gonna go MTB today. I am a newbie so no crazy trails for me, I take it very easy. Its just nice to be out in the woods.

Been riding in some perfect weather here.
Interestingly, my son’s XC teammate was running alone on Monday when a police officer stopped him. Told him it was a good idea to go back home. Kid ended his run and went home. Unreal. |

Group rides are forbidden, solo rides are still allowed ... in France.

I have broken a leg twice while on a bike. Once on a road bike (got hit), and once on a Mtn bike (caught a vine I didn't see).
Stuff happens. |

I'm still riding solo. My wife said she'd join me later in the week when it warms up. I'm not riding with anyone else at this point.
One of my A events this year was the Heywood Ride (descendant of the now-canceled Almanzo) on May 16. They posted the course files. I'm riding it solo. Their Facebook page says nothing about canceling it, but there's no way I can ride it in good conscience. I know it's easy to say this from behind my keyboard, but if I were the event director, I'd cancel it. If I ran Northfield's public health department, I'd cancel them. |
