The Continental “tan wall” tires don’t really resemble other tan wall tires... the sidewall is a dark brown. From a distance you might mistake them for all-black tires.

Agreed. Already ordered. I love those tires; just didn't know they come in tan wall version.

My biggest gripe thus far, aside from flats in the rain, is the move of the manufacturer label from the sidewall to the rubber. A terrible transgression, but one I'll put up with for miles and miles of fast, comfortable riding. I have put them through the **** and they have always come out clean.

That being said - their tires are handmade. And, as with anything handmade, there are unknowns, accepted tolerances and human error built into the final product. The pair I mounted this week could explode on my first ride, who knows. I trust them because of my own anecdotal evidence. I take your experiences into account, too, and would be concerned if the next thirty replies were people who also had problems.

thoughtful post, and agree.

My experience involves many many sets of Veloflex Master, Black, etc, and are totally positive. Most sublime riding tyres I've used.

Of course, had a couple of failures: including loss of skin and motor function trying to mount them, but they stretch on easily after that.

Not to hijack this thread too much, but what is your experience like with the latex? I concluded that for a lazy street rider like me, the increased risk of flats and the need to pump up them up daily wouldn’t be worth the weight gains. But I’ve yet to try it out actually. These would be the tires I would do it with.

Thanks

For everyday street riding it's probably not worth it. But for event rides they're awesome. I check my air before each ride so it's not a big deal.

I rode a fast century yesterday with chipseal, alligator cracks, gravel on pavement, etc. The combo didn't miss a beat. Very fast and comfortable.

Another +1 vote for the Clement Strada LGG.
I have put these tires on 5 builds I have done for Eroica California. At Eroica, each bike traveled 100+ miles, with over 30 miles unpaved. Not ONE flat. That's as good of a testimonial as I need to make me a believer!

I just grabbed this set up. I selected "Para" as the sidewall colour. I presume this is a tan wall colour? I couldn't find any photo relating to "Para" elsewhere online.

LGGs are super slow and draggy feeling. They dont perform very well either on Crr drum tests.
