Kirk Pacenti moves on
Kirk Pacenti, Pacenti Cycle Design’s founder and lead director for the past decade, is moving on. He has turned over the reigns to his partners, who will carry on Pacenti Cycle Design's mission of developing innovative products for the cycling world.

Pacenti Cycle Design has had a good run under Kirk’s leadership. As one of the industry’s leading innovators, Kirk pioneered the 650b rim standard and wider alloy rims. Most recently, he introduced the patented P-Dent handlebar system, which has been positively received by both industry experts and consumers.

Kirk would like to thank all the great people he has worked with over the last decade and helped make Pacenti Cycle Design a success. We wish him all the best and hope he will keep dreaming up innovative new products like the P-Dent.

What's next for Pacenti
Acting CEO and co-owner Luke Humphreys will lead the company forward from here.

A word from new CEO Luke Humphreys
Since joining Pacenti I have had the belief that in an ever-changing trade that we need to focus more and more on our consumers and retailers.

We are going back to the drawing board. In the coming year will be adding several exciting new products to support our existing line.

A Customer-Centered Approach
Going forward, Pacenti Cycle Design will handle all distribution on a global level. This will allow us to offer more competitive pricing, which we’ve already introduced on several products, to both dealers and consumers. Most importantly, we will be able to provide more direct, personalized customer service to all customers, large and small. .

Innovation
Pacenti Cycle Design has a strong history of innovation, leading the way in the 650b revolution and industry-wide move to wider alloy rims. But the industry has been catching up. We believe that new products, like the Forza Carbon Rim Series, will put us back in the lead.
We are not just the guys who make great rims. We are above all innovators dedicated to bringing exciting new products to the cycling world.

It'll be interesting to see what's next for Kirk. And I hope Pacenti will continue making their line of alloy rims. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they were going to focus exclusively on carbon going forward.

The freehub body is easy, it's the cassettes that have proven to be the hurdle... near impossible, and no incentive for Shimano, SRAM or Campy to get on board.

FSA was very interested for a time, but were eventually scared off by the idea of making cassettes that were not compatible with SRAM/Shimano standard.

The dies made to stamp out cogs produce about 80 pcs per cycle (depending on cog size); that's a huge tool. Multiply it by 12+ cog sizes, and tooling costs get very high...
