Yes, this is me. Feel free to upvote if you're on PH!

We'll have more details when we finalize spec. Right now it will be chain driven. Working with Gates to get the right components at the right price.

Cheers,
Hong

The specs state Gates belt but you’re saying that’s not finalized?

And a 20 mile range. Not sure that’s practical. My wife rode an e-bike 26 miles today.

Also confused on tires/wheels. Photos show what look like disc wheels but specs state spoked.

Seems to be pretty vague all around

Thats the right attitude man.

Just a quick question. Im not in the market for an electric bike but I'm trying to understand how this is different than others (no offense).

In using the tesla battery does that allow this electric bike to be charged at a traditional "electric vehicle charging station" that you see popping up in big cities?

If so I think this is genius, the range might not be amazing right now, but if you couple it with being able to charge at an increasingly available resource it really makes the difference.

If not, Ive got an idea for you!

Wow, really? I’ve backed some successful campaigns on KS including Tailfin and Fix-It Stixs but have also lost apx $400 on two campaigns that were funded then went bust.

I wish the guy all the luck in the world - we need strong, viable e-bikes if we’re going to do anything to get more people out of cars and combat climate change.

But if he can’t handle some simple basic questions, how can he expect people to put down a serious amount of money?

I respect your right to be skeptical, but just digging around a bit you can see it's not their first rodeo. This company's previously released an e-bike that was reviewed by some larger cycling publications, so people have already put down serious amounts of money on them. This lends Karmic a bit more credibility on my view.

So what's the gig on these? Give them 1,600 (or more) for a bike that may not arrive?
What's in it for an investor, I just don't understand these kickstarters....

thx

Whatever happened to just fining an investor or investors the old fashioned way? These Kickstarters are always delayed and or never completed. Believe me, I have participated in a couple over the years. Never again. If you have a solid product go out there and knock on some doors.Go get a bank loan. None of these Kickstarters want to risk their own money on their own product. Stop asking me to front your projects. Sorry, rant off.

The old fashioned way has a consistent knack for excluding entrepreneurs by race and gender. The old fashioned way doesn't build a pipeline of customers and hopefully proponents of the product before it even launches. The old fashioned way is so unappealing even more established brands like Silca are using Kickstarters to launch products and build buzz.

Kickstarters aren't perfect, but let's not pretend the traditional system was some Shangri La either.

Best of luck on the Kickstarter. Looks like a cool bike.

You can pedal them, but it also has a throttle if you're too lazy. All the delivery people in NY have them. I know deliveries are way more efficient now... but wonder how many pounds all these delivery guys gained once they got their new bikes!
