Open min.d opinion?
Eyeing an open min.d in my size and curious on feedback for those that own one. Anything to be aware of for a 2022 model?

I thought the ride feel on it was amazing, as was the build quality - the main thing is whether you can get your fit parameters just right on it..

I wouldn't. They are a mess, horrible frame fittings (TINY set screws, don't fit the frame well, can't be changed without re-routing the hose) seat post design is awful and very fragile, poorly designed dropout, BB interface issues...
Not to mention super weird geo with it's slack SA. I'd skip Open across the board. |

Yikes! Thanks for the feedback.
Looks like I’ll dodge this one due to the questionable saddle height. It’s so close it’s probably not worth the risk. |

I am thankful that Clean had fit issues because I bought his. The ride is sublime, and the seat mast topper is finicky, but the set screws are to prevent the seat from rotating, so using a torque wrench is vital. I enjoy the bike; I have it set up with Red AXS (from Clean) and some Boyd wheels with 32s, which will easily clear, even with some stuff stuck to the tires. It's not a race bike, it's a long day in the saddle bike.

That is exactly what I’m after so I’m not going to write the model off. The one I found though is not going to work after learning more about the seatmast. In the photo of the listing it looked very long and I was surprised it still was looking to barely be tall enough for my fit once I got the measurements.

I had one for about two days. Could NOT get the seat post to stay put, I tried everything and a couple different brands of carbon paste, nothing worked.

What alternatives to the min.d do you consider?
FWIW, I test rode a Giant Contend and didn't like the tall stack. Obviously a huge price difference, there. Since I service my own bikes, I'd prefer NOT routing hydraulic brakes through the headset. |

I struggled a little with the topper. I ended up taking it all apart and very carefully torqued the two setscrews a quarter turn at a time. It's been good for a year now. Finish Line paste was generously applied.

Which is your preferred torque wrench for low values, i.e. max 3Nm? Thanks

And the fact they bagged Campagnolo's hydraulic lines being an issue when it looked like Open were clearly the problem. |
