"Brown" bikes. Love 'em? Hate 'em? Got pics?

This seems to be a pretty below the radar color on the Forum. Is there a reason for that? I like brown bikes. Thinking of redoing a lugged steel frame with RAL 8014 (sepia brown) with white/cream on the lugs and similar paneling.

On the other hand, a good friend and client who's a bigwig in the design world thinks that brown is an abomination on a bike.

Anyone have that RAL (or similar color) on a bike? Or share my buddy's opinion?

have to agree with brown being a poor color for most things that aren't dirt or dead vegetation.

other than one belt and a pair of shoes, I own nothing brown.

for the most part, I'm a black / gray / silver kinda guy.

that said, my bike is metallic gold...go figure.

Biketrike's Bruce Gordon was my first thought, love it. Which one did you buy ?

Here's my wife's Comare commuter. Not a true brown, more of a plumb'ish brown.

I have a poop brown Surly Steamroller from back when they had 1” threaded fork/headset. Might be an example of how to do it wrong, but for the utilitarian bike it is, I like it.

it is an abomination....both the color and the bike. But, it has a dynamo light and I don't have to take care of it all that much.
