Yeah, not sure why they went with internal/drop in headset bearings instead of standard external cup like they were using on the steel bikes at this time. It's funny you mention Litespeed "doing it better" because this looks like something they would have built around the same time.

That price seems ... ambitious. I paid ~$850 for my 59cm Victoire (as a complete bike). It did have triathlon handlebars, to be fair, but replacing those didn't cost $450.

The head tube junction has never bothered me, but to each his own.

That saddle. That stem. The bars. Yeah I wouldn’t use any of it either. I wonder if the group is worth anything on eBay. Probably still works fine.
