Interesting read...I had no idea Seven was the #1 custom bike brand in the US....I wonder how that is measured?

Very interesting indeed. It seems that there is a large segment of the retail base left out of the report. What about BMX. I know that several brands started out in the BMX market....Diamond Back, for example. What about the rest of them?

My stable...

1. 1991 Bianchi Alfana (noodley Prestige)....Taiwan
2. 1988 Diamond Back Mtn....Taiwan
3. 1996 Serotta CSI...USA
4. 1997 GT Avalanche (poor man's Zaskar)....Taiwan
4. 2000 Klein Q-Pro Carbon....USA
5. 2001 Serotta Concours....USA

The Concours is clearly the best of the lot!

Sounds like the author occasionally updates his article , so I'm posting the link here, with his references.

It wasn't intentional but of my four built up bikes, all four were made here in US. I've covered the country well with a bike from Northeast, the South, the West and the Northwest.

Tha's old news.

AS I unnerstand it, the Lynskey family founded Litespeed in 1986, sold it in 1999, and now operate under the name Lynskey Performance Designs. Lynskeyperformance.com. Not sure when Merlin got swallowed up.

I hadda Lynskey Litespeed once (wish I had it back).

They were at NAHBS last year and likely will be there this year, but I don't have a list in front of me at the moment.

My current main rides:
roadie: Italian steel tigged in Colorado.
off roadie: Italian steel tigged in Taiwan.

also have bikes from Japan, California, USA, Taiwan, and Austria

My Wisconsin-built Trek 5900 (back on the road after the marathon seatpost struggle described in another thread) replaced an earlier OCLV Trek (totaled in a collision with a car) which replaced a Cannondale 3.0 (still in the basement) which replaced an team-issued SLX Rossin (totalled in a racing crash)...

That's not bad, three made-in-USA following a freebie Eyetalian.

My Taiwanese Parlee (US fork, though) was built with parts off a Cannondale CAAD-? (now keeping the other one company in the basement).

My Fuji track bike (straighforwardly labelled "Made in China") replaced a Milanese Guerciotti fixed-gear conversion.

Oh yeah, there's a lugged Chris Chance frame (Somerville?) down there somewhere too. I'll replace the cracked downtube as soon as my bailout check arrives. Hope its enough for a NOS Superbe Pro build kit, too!
