first real ride today.

excellent. everything is dialed with the exception of the bars. they flare out quite wise, and i dont think i like it for a road bike, but thought i would try. i'll give them some more miles, but probably will be swapped out for a more traditional compact. otherwise, really like this one!

Yeah, that's a lot of flare. I'm really digging the Ritchey Evomax lately. If you haven't given them a try you might consider them. They have just the right amount of flare for me and I like the oversize tops.

Hi Z,

It's an R270. I have 25c tires in there now on 23mm rims, and there is a bit of room to spare, so i think 28c tires on those rims would work, but that would be the max.

i'm still a fan of 25mm tires for the road, and for this bike, that's as wide as i want to go. i may look for a slightly wider higher volume tire for a set of foul weather rain wheels. it's too bad vittoria no longer makes the 27c open pave, which was really a great foul weather road tire, but there are others around.

Thanks!

I have been thinking of picking up an R270 or Premiere but want to run 28mm on wide rims which I know can be a tight fit even on modern frames.
