An narrow wide ring is nice to have but I just run an outer bash guard and the ring on the inner position. Sounds like you have what you'll need but I like swept back bars for townies which need a 22.2 clamp trigger shifter.

I'm running the VeloOrange El Postino bars.. picked up a Nitto quill from the bike swap meet for $2 and a Deore 9spd trigger shifter set for $5.. score! Ordered a 39t FSA singlespeed ring for $20 earlier too
