My idea of a pick-up (but with more rust):

Ok, that’s a dope truck too. Love the color!

I don't know much about EVs, but this suggests to me that the various manufacturers will have proprietary charging locations. That's insane, and if it's true EVs will never be competitive compared to IC. They absolutely have to standardize.

From what I've read Levels 1 and 2 charging are generic, but Level 3 is not. That's like saying that if I want to put more than 5 gallons of gas in my Impreza I have to find a Subie gas station. Nuts to that.

If anyone is familiar with Doug Demuro, he recently reviewed a Rivian on his youtube channel. It has some pretty cool features, I came away impressed...

Rivian...I'm not buying it

As a work truck....designed by people who can only envision what a work actually is...as they've never actually had a job requiring a work vehicle

if this is what actually puts amazon in the hole, I am all for it

This is the biggest failure the auto industry has ever had. Why the charging infrastructure isn't standardized like the options that preceded it is completely and utterly asinine. It's going to set electric cars back decades as a result.

Literally. I just purchased a brand new ICE car with zero regrets. I recently drove from NW New Mexico back to LA in one hit. I looked at how much longer it’d have taken in a Tesla. 4 hours. 4 freaking hours. And that was with the super charger network. Imagine traveling with any other EV. Would be so painful.

EVs aren’t (yet) for regular long road trips. But they will be.

EV technology is perfect for delivery vehicles as Amazon envisions them. Mail too.

Glad I invested in Tesla early on. Tempted to buy into Rivian as well.

Anyway, the overwhelming majority of pickups aren’t work trucks. They’re status symbols and get used once in a while to carry a few bags of mulch all the while getting 12 MPG. The Rivian will handle this duty fine, along with other daily driver tasks most folks have, all while being able to be charged at home overnight.

You are confusing Rivian's RT1 pickup with the Rivian Fleet commercial van.
Amazon starts to take delivery of it's 100,000 Fleet vans in 22. They will be avail for everyone else in 23.

The auto industry is insane right now - Tesla at a trilion and they can't manufacture in a timely fashion and their quality control is still so sub par. Even compared a Tesla plaid to a Porsche Taycan - it's not even close. The fit and finish and quality to detail and the quality of parts in the Porsche are so much higher (oh but the plaid goes 0 to 60 faster - and it's also the least fun car to ever drive)

As such in October I purchased Lucid @ $22 it's $50 after hitting $60. I purchased Ford at $12 it's $20 (150k Bronco orders - only the 3 has sold 150k in less than a year for Tesla). I'm thinking of Rivian since it came down, but the F150 Lighting looks equally as awesome - shorting Tesla.

While I'm making money there loving driving my V8 BMW 750 and V8 Range Rover - both plenty fast cars that are a blast to drive.

I saw Doug D's review of the Rivian - who wants to bet that he's not going to sell his Land Rover Defender for a Rivian.

That guy is nails-on-a-chalkboard annoying.

His reviews are the equivalent of listening to a teenage girl talk about the latest Justin Bieber release.
