One of my buddies had a literal heart attack on the trainer last month and fell over, taking the bike with him. Y’all think there’s enough left here to keep a qr skewer seated?

I have ridden my bike off of my trainer twice. The curse of chromed horizontal dropouts on a wheel-off trainer. Fortunately, no frame damage either time. I was worried the dropouts were going to look like that.

So.......
Dented aluminum. Would you ride it? Is it safe to ride? What should I look for to tell? Backstory: I picked up this SDS Duetti planning to use it as my travel/trainer bike, figuring the matte finish would be reasonably durable, and the external hydro-cable routing would make packing it not so bad. It clears 30s. And is done up with eTap hydro. It arrived and was packed exceptionally well - but it was a yes, yes, yes, nooooooo! experience unboxing it. It must have been extremely manhandled and maybe even opened and repacked to have the foam padding pushed to the side and the wheel/hub-flange push into and scrape/dent the DT like that. The seller went above and beyond to deal with the insurance claim w FedEx, and I'm ending up okay on it but not good enough to just get a new frame from SDS. So I'm considering whether to keep it and ride it as is, knowing it'll get beat up more in travel, sell it super cheap and move on, or just commit it full-time to my smart-trainer with a kludged 1x setup of some sort. I of course wouldn't want to sell it, or ride it outdoors, if it is structurally compromised in some way, I just don't know how to tell or assess that. I've seen steel dented much worse than this, just not sure on thinwall 6061 aluminum. It is a great looking bike from the drive-side.. I'm not sure why Ben went with a PF30 BB - but other than that, the design choices look great to me. The shaping on the tubes looks quite purposeful and flows nicely. There are fender direct mounts under the brake bridge and fork crown (though no mounts on the frame?), and the finish has a nice satin feel to it. .

That's fine. Perfectly rideable. dent's that have a crease or sharp angle are more worrisome, but this one is unlikely to get any worse, and even if it does, you'll know about before some catastrophic failure.
cool bike, not too many of those out there in the wild.

Just to add to the “ride it” chorus, I’ve got a CAAD8 that’s had a similar dent in it for the past 20k miles/7 years. The dent isn’t any bigger and the frame still rides fine.

Rain Groove
Circumferential grooves continuously siphon and channel the rain away increasing traction in wet weather.
