Internal routing of brake hose through handlebar
Another disc/Di2 newbie question.
My Ergomax handlebar has 2 holes in the stem area for wires and brake hose. Any rule on which one for what? Wireless, so only going to run the hose through the HB. Intuition tells me the front one, but does it really matter? Can't think of any obvious reason for either one, but want to avoid getting ridiculed for violating the internal routing etiquette |

Assuming there's no internal channels for the hoses (which should make the answer obvious), it looks like the hole that's furthest forward lines up better with the hose outlet by the brake lever.

Does your stem have internal too? If not, I wouldn't bother and just wrap it under the tape.

I think one hole will work better for right/front brake routing, and the other right/rear.

Yeah, that's an option too and how it was done with the existing HB. Would also avoid disconnecting the hose at the lever. |

The furthest back makes sense to me. My Cervelo Rouvida has special grooves that are far back and allow the hose to go inside the stem where it clamps to the bars.

Just to clarify, if the bars have an opening for the hydraulic hoses and one doesn't have an integrated barstem combo where the hoses route through the stem etc, does it make sense to route the hoses through to the other side of the bar to allow for a more direct routing to the brakes?

Then I wouldn't do it because otherwise you'll have to redo the brakes/bleed them, etc. Not worth it. Had the same question a while ago when I changed handlebars.
