Let’s face it: a classy lugged frame looks good with almost anything; as long as it’s not overly obnoxious I think. All the bikes posted here look great and would looks similarly great (but different) with sleek silvery parts too.

It works!! I prefer black/dark grey cockpit and drivetrain over silver in most applications.

Best looking components on a modern steel lugged bicycle frame
You have to decide is silver or black components looks best than get those in modern components. Silver stops at about 10-speed and is the determining factor in going silver

One can't go wrong with this combo imho.
Initially it felt like a compromise being stuck with black components, but now I wouldn't want my Kirk Onesto XL dressed any other way. Whether it's objectively better-looking than silver or because that's what's on it is beyond me. |
