Those lugs are spectacular. One day I'm gonna have to get me a Kirk.

I strongly believe that one can really judge the quality of work by looking at its edges. Making the great open spaces look good is simple - making the edges look good is where the time and effort is spent and shows the real skill of the craftsman. Lug lines are my edges and having them end up square and clean is the goal. This is even more important when the work is stainless and will not be covered in paint. This stainless Onesto needs its rear triangle added and will then get its final buffing.

Fillet brazing is one of those activities that demands real concentration while at the same time using muscle memory and letting it happen. Rather zen-like I know as those two things sound at odds...but while it’s happening it makes perfect sense. Picture the shape of the fillet in your mind and then let it happen. I’ve built thousands of fillet bikes over the last 30 years and the joy of standing back when the torch is turned off and seeing what happened is still very much there.

Gorgeous work as always Dave, and a captivating description..
My eyes go to that tubular rim though, is that something you use for checking tolerances, or just a coincidence that its there in the picture? |

Dave- is this an Onesto frame? If so so are there any special concerns fillet brazing stainless as opposed to working with stainless
lugs? Thanks |
