Dave, unless it's classified information: how do you get the fillets to shape up like that? very neat!

Dave, your craftsmanship is most impressive. Always absolutely top-notch, and with an aesthetic that never tries too hard to be attention grabbing.
My only concern is how your marketing department is going to justify the extra weight of the gothic fillets. ![]() |

with those fillets, i'd love to see insanely fine sandpaper used to smooth out the steel finish just a tad, then clear coat it. that is just beautiful.

I'm very pleased to report that I'll be attending NAHBS 2017 in Salt Lake City this coming March 10th - 12th. I'll be bringing a Webbed Gothic fillet brazed frameset in the 54-58 cm size range and it's so much more fun to build a show bike for a specific person than it is to build a stock sized bike.....so if you ride a 54-58 cm road bike and would like to see your Webbed Gothic fillet frameset being shown unpainted and entered into the "best fillet brazed" contest at the 2017 NAHBS please get in touch and we can go over the details. The easiest way to get in touch is to email me directly at info@kirkframeworks.com and we'll make things happen.

That frame will be a shoe-in for best fillet brazing. It's just incredible. I'm taking a framebuilding class now, just learning to fillet braze, and cannot even imagine the precision, patience and attention to detail that goes into just one of those fillets.

dave is that bare metal with gold brazing material showing at the lug edges, or silver paint with gold trim? if bare metal, what is that type of finish called & how is it prepped? it looks so smooth.
either way, that frame is absolutely stunning. i mean, just over the top perfect in every way that i like. terraplane stays, that gorgeous seat tube cluster/lug (or whatever it's called), a touch of white.....just.....just...perfect. have to say of all the beauties you've done & shown here since i've been a member, that is my #1 favorite kirk frame right there. incredible. just plain incredible. ![]() Last edited by 54ny77; 08-31-2016 at 09:20 AM. |

The frame has a glass bead blast finish which gives it the luster of a frosted beer glass and of course in this case there is some Joe Bell paint to accent the raw stainless. I'm glad you like the look. As much as I like the look I'm more proud of the way they ride and handle.......but I can't take a photo of the ride/handling so the look will have to do! dave |

thanks for clarifying--on my monitor the brazing material looks kinda goldish-colored. hard to discern it's silver.
regardless, it is stunning. absolutely stunning. |
