About your great fork photo series - did you leave out one finishing step where you somehow scallop the side edges of the blade tips before brazing in the dropouts? In the finished fork, there's a nice curve to the sides of the blades where they meet the dropouts.
Yes I compete in SCCA Solo and my car is in the D Modified class. The key things that define D Mod are that the engine can't be more than 2.0L and the combined weight of car and driver can't be less than 1420 lbs. It took a good while to get mine to minimum weight but it's now at 1425 leaving a few pound margin for differences in how scales read.

On the fork blades...yes there is a simple step missing. After the blade is slotted I grind the bevel on the end (on both sides of the slot) using a bench mount disc sander. This gives it that tapered look with the curves of the end of the blade making an interesting shape and pattern.

These two photos should show what I mean.

Fork blade finishing step

Yeah, that's it. Looks so good. Surprised you can take away that much metal with a grinder/sander. Would've thought you used a hacksaw, maybe.

Cheers!

With a fairly fresh sanding disc it will take that material off in about 5 seconds....faster than I can cut it with a saw that's for sure.

Hi Dave. I was wondering if you use stainless steerers on your Onesto forks and, if so, you will share where you purchase those?

Yes....the first few Onesto's I built way back when used a steel steerer but since then everything has a stainless steerer. I buy them from the good guy at KVA.

This fillet MRB just came back from my partner Joe Bell and will soon (at least as soon as the last few parts show up) be built up with an AXS kit and Velo Orange brakes.

Should be fun.

Looks amazing, Dave. Look forward to seeing the full build! What’s the accent color? Is that gold?

The seat tube bands are a color known as "dusty rose metallic" and it's a traditional color used by Cinelli back in the day.

I finally got all the needed parts form the green frameset above to be turned into a ready-to-ride MRB and it's in a box headed to its new home in the DC area back east.

It's so cold and snowy here it's tempting to hand deliver it so that I can sneak in a few warm and dry rides before ski season starts here. But that's a bit of a long drive so I guess I stay in the shop and work on the next frameset.

Happy Thanksgiving All.

I have to say that one of the things I'm most thankful for is the long term support from all my customers and fans of my work - having a job you love and happy customers is more than one can expect and I'm truly blessed.

Thank you.

I just managed to get this new Onesto Fillet frameset into a box and into the UPS truck just 30 minutes before last call. it felt good to get it off to its new home so that I have a totally clean slate for the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Have a great weekend and start to the Holiday Season.

I like this one ;-).

As a result of exposure on this forum, I bought a custom Kirk MRB in 2006-07. And then I turned around and had him build me another one with S&S couplers the same year (hence the screen name Kirk007). I've also owned two of Dave' former personal bikes, an outrageously cool cyclocross bike and then his former gravel Onesto with disc brakes; and briefly Clean's beautiful midnight blue Kirk.

Perhaps a wiser man would have realized that he had everything he needed back in 2007 and called it good. But then he wouldn't have had the pleasure of trying all the others, and learning what he liked best and what changes might be made; things like, I really, really like a great steel fork over a carbon fork, and for my purposes I could get the tire size, braking capability, ride performance of a great steel fork, and unbelievable artisanry in one bike, all of which has culminated in this frame/fork.

Most of all though I would have missed out on the pleasure of interacting with Dave over the past 16 years. Thanks Dave.

It seems most of the bikes shown lately have been fitted so we need to balance that out with a few detail shots of stainless tubes and lugs living in harmony!

Curious Dave.. I see many of the bikes on here in larger sizes and rarely see smaller sizes. Do your customers skew more towards the larger/taller end of the spectrum as opposed to "industry norm" bell curve or does it also follow the bell curve?

My real question is.. how likely I might find one of your smaller bikes (46 or 48ish st x 50/51 tt) out there in the wild for sale

Still feeling the sting of missing that one small one that was posted in the deals thread.
