One could argue that this is neither a good deal nor a barn find, so I put it over here in bigbikes. I'm not in the market for any more road frames at least until I sell some, but this could change my mind. It does seem to be a somewhat liberal use of the term NOS. And the chance of finding touchup paint if you wanted to address the area around the seat post insertion seems dubious. I don't see this one flying off the shelf at nearly retail… Pretty sweet frame for the right buyer though.
My size … but I like my lugged steel bikes to be a fraction of that price. Maybe if it magically made me 20 years younger😁

I keep looking at it bc it would be a grail frame for me, and fit me like a glove. A very very expensive glove.

Looks like maybe a new powder coat, but the lugs tell the story that it is indeed a Rivendell. From the look of the rear dropout, this one looks to be Waterford made. Price is not bad, but I'd want to refinish in their classic cream red, which would be another 1k easy.

Just about as big as they come, I suspect.

I'd get slapped upside the head for dragging an old chain across the bedroom carpet like that

It would seem the seller is single.

Legend with Record 12.

The seller emailed me with the build sheet and added it to the listing. It's a 56cm TT, so for you short-reach tall folks this might be a nice bike.

65cm Assenmacher Handmade Classic Road Touring Bicycle w/ Campagnolo - $800
Are you a very tall cyclist? Here is the bike for you. 65cm Assenmacher vintage road touring bicycle. Seat tube 65cm center to center, 66cm center to top. Top tube 59cm center to center. Saddle height in photo is 90cm. Likely suitable for a 6' 5"- 6' 9" rider, maybe a little shorter or taller depending on your proportions. It is a big bike for sure.

The builder Matt Assenmacher trained under Bob Jackson in England. Frame building style has similar cues. 1970s vintage custom frame for J.C. Peterson (inscribed on top tube). Reynolds 531 tubing. Clearance for larger tires, currently running 700x35. Campagnolo Record derailleurs, hubs and shifters. Dura-Ace center pull brakes, Specialized triple crankset. Nitto dirt drop style stem and wide flared drop bars. Recently tuned, all cables, housing and chain new. Ready to ride.

62cm Serotta Coeur D'Acier XXL

Saw this on Pinkbike. A bit long for me with a 63.75cm top tube, but great looking bike.
