mike: per the paperwork the shift levers are period correct Mavic. that bike seems so original to me. perhaps seller replaced with newer Shimano 105's and still has old ones. don't say if seller is original owner though.

The frame also has an SPX sticker while the receipt says SLX.

SPX is thicker (and heavier) than SLX. I like SLX better.

I have a Simoncini with that headbadge, and it is stamped into the head tube. It's definitely cool.

Simoncini went out of business more than a decade ago. I like mine, and I think I got my frame for ~220ish off ebay with a Cyclart repaint in vg condition. I look at this as overpriced by at least $300.

Edit: Also, this is cool that it has a 1992 date on the receipt. I figured mine was from about 1991 or thereabouts, so this is the same generation.

I didn't realize I was going to take such scrutiny for recommending what I consider a classic big boy bike.

anyway, I don't know if thi is the case or any of you have ever been involved with an Italian bikes from decades ago. so I have have seen where the bike is spec'd as an SLX bike except for extra large sizes where the have to use SPX to accomplish the strength and rigidity. not saying that is what happened here but I would not be surprised if that were the case. I still think this is a classic bb bike but I really don't care as I have no vested interest in the bike.
