my understanding is lynskey in years past. not sure about today. i think that when lynskey started out they did what they had to do to pay the rent so to speak. i do not think that is the case today as from what i see lynskey producing in titanium. they seem to have their act together imho. after all they started litespeed and sold it to a venture capitalist. i can't blame them for that. fast forward, the son has fulfilled his obligation under the sales contract to run the company for the venture capital people. i will say that whoever is running the company they know the value of craftsmen welders i.e. probably able to pay them as the lynskey welds seem to be spot on imho. bike designs seem spot on. i would predict that lynskey will e a player in the titanium bike business for the foreseeable future. they also seem to be well funded. just my opinion. i am planning on a lynskey gravel soon.

1985ish Raleigh Prestige - 63cm - Sacramento CL - $350
In case anyone is looking for an Eroica (CA, at least) ride. This looks like a nice 1985ish Raleigh Prestige, 63cm, $350, located near Sacramento:
https://sacramento.craigslist.org/bi...773728884.html The components match those on Sheldon Brown's site: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/retrora...-prestige.html https://www.sheldonbrown.com/retrora...5/pages/1.html Last edited by srcarter; 12-21-2018 at 02:35 AM. |

I think that, basically, most folks figure that Lynskey quality just CANNOT be that good because of their asking price...then they see a Lynskey close up, see the obvious excellent build quality, and say to themselves, "Wow! How to they do it? How do they cut corners? How can they offer this beautiful frame at thousands less than their competition?". But there really IS no downside to Lynskey. Not in my experience, anyway. I own two, a Helix ('09 Race Model) and a Level 4 Custom, and they're definitely in the rotation. I like 'em.

Is there really any functionality to that twist tube set or just pure gimmicktry?

Nah...it's just an aesthetic.

My biggest frustration with Lynskey is their dropouts. The ones on the Level 4 custom Jeff has are fine, but I just can't see why they would use that clover-leaf design on others - from an engineering standpoint (let alone aesthetics) it just makes no sense.

It's just an aesthetic, kinda like when Litespeed had that cut-out "L" on their dropouts.

If you're local to Seattle, Recycled Cycles has a 57 ti Serotta, a 59 or 60 ti Serotta, a large steel Mercian, and a large steel Stevenson.
But not the wool socks I want, in my size. |
