Back in the Serotta Game!

As I try to get back to regular riding, I figured a new bike can't hurt, right?

So I was thinking about a new bike with discs, maybe Di2, etc and then ran across something I couldn't pass up while out at some garage sales this morning...

Legend Ti with the ST seat stays! Mostly Ultegra group (came with carbon DuraAce pedals) with a XT rear mech that accommodates a 36 tooth cog. Cosmetically, the bike is a bit rough, but feels very mechanically sound... just gotta play around with tires to see what the biggest I can fit... that is the only downside to not getting a newer frame. But for $1k with a full seat pack and Lezyne CNC floorpump was hard to pass up! I would like it to be one size smaller (not not a lot of seatpost showing), but we'll see if we can make it work...

BTW- serial number is CLS 57 134, so I guess it was a pretty early ST bike... maybe 2003/4?

Anyway, just got to California for the final two years of my military career and got a new bike, life is pretty good! (still waiting on my household good though...)

Sorry for the garage pic... and new bar tape is coming and stem is now flipped!

I don't see any pics. LS is a model that I don't know.

I've lost track of your locations. Seems like you were in SoCal, then Alaska(?), now back to CA?

Sorry about the pic, I think it should be there now? It showed me a pic before, not sure why it didn't show up for anyone else...

I had to look up LS as well... so the L is Legend Ti and the S is the carbon ST seat stays I guess from what I can find in old threads.

As far as moving around, that's just the life of someone in the Coast Guard! But you are correct, I was in SoCal, then Alaska, Virginia, Washington, and now The Bay Area until my retirement in 2023 when they force me to retire! Probably back up North to Oregon at that point...

Wow, you practically stole that thing. Sweet! I guess I need to get to more garage sales... but that's my primary riding time!

Very nice score! Would love to see some pics once you’ve dressed it up a bit.

Must be better garages in CA!

If you decide it is not to your liking, I think the size would be perfect for me....

It was a complete fluke... certainly wasn't expecting to buy a bike on that trip. In fact, I was planning on going to look at used 2020 Roubaix later that day (albeit for a much higher price!)

I'll keep you in mind if the size doesn't work out, but it rode well this morning!

25mm tire may be as big as you can fit comfortably.

Hey Ken! Hope all is well, my friend!

Yep, I figure a nominal "25", but as you know manufacture's sizes can be all over the map... once my stuff gets here, I have a new set of Conti GP 4000 (if I remember right) I'll probably put on. I also have a couple wheelsets with Clement (now Donnelly) tires in both 25 and 28mm, so I can check those out as well for fit...

Hope your riding is well!

Anyone have any feedback on the year this might have been built per the serial number?

CLS 57 134

Thanks!

On Serottas older than this with F1 forks even 25mm is tight but this probably has one of the newer forks with a bit more clearance right? My Legend was a delightful ride and I only let it go because my Hampsten Strada Bianca by MOOTS was just as good and accepted much wider tires as needed.

If you decide to sell...

Please LMK as I know someone who is looking for something like this.

Meanwhile, congrats!

Thanks
Tim
