I'm considering the Knog because bells are pretty worthless to me, but they are required in a lot of states. So I might as well have one that is unobtrusive.

There was a case in South Carolina (?) where someone beat a ticket about a bell because he could shout louder than a bell. I can shout loud enough that people can hear me inside a car at a pretty good distance. Military training is good for something.

finally got my Oi

i like it, pure sound and not obtrusive -- perfect for my use-case: a gentle "heads-up" alert for walkers/runners on mixed-use trails.

traditionally, just flicking my ergo lever does enough to get someone's attention. this is slightly louder and gives me a little more lead-time w/o blowing someone out and disrupting the serenity of the countryside.

back when brake levers were aluminum and steel, they made a lot better warning devices. The "clack" of current brake levers is too muted for most people to hear.

I had some cantilever brakes that always squealed, unless I spent a lot of time messing with toe-in. Then the next time it was wet they would start squealing again. Annoying, but it was really useful on a MUP.

I got my fleabay knockoff yesterday. I think it was $2 shipped? I can't remember and I ordered it like 6 weeks ago.

OK...now that I'm on a proper computer.
The chime sounds nice, but it's not loud.
The price is $3.35 shipped.
Looking forward to putting this puppy on my kah-mue-tuh!

And I ordered it 11/3. It arrived 12/14. I've had WAY faster shipping from China before (for ridiculously low $), but I'm guessing the weather and increased shipping volume delayed it.

Bought an Oi. It sucks. It's weak. Too weak for commuting.
I'm enjoying my Rock Bro's.

Reviving an older thread.....anyone else using a Knog Oi bell?

I need to get a couple bells, and currently have what is a Spurcycle knockoff (purchased before I knew what a Spurcyle bell is). That little bell design is great.

The Knog design looks pretty slick. Curious of anyone else's experiences/opinions having used it awhile.

The Knog Oi bell is the weakest, quietest sounding bell on the market. Skip it.

This is all one needs to know. Other than the looks, this thing is terrible.

I just replaced the one I have this morning with one of the Spurcycle Frankenbell's that they were selling over the holidays.

I really like the form factor of the other bell but like other's have said it's way too quiet.

Agreed. Love the look, design, cable management, etc but no going back after getting the frankenbell from a sale a year ago.
