I've had the same Knog Oi on my road bike going on 4 years.
It's not fancy but it's totally hidden on the bars, doesn't interfere with cables and works when I need it. When I got it, I thought I was being vain for spending $12 on a bell. |

They're absolute garbage. I threw mine out. Was too embarrassed to "gift" such a piece of crap to anyone I know.

For anyone looking for alternatives; I can highly recommend the ‘hidemybell’ bells that are now made by CloseTheGap. Basically it’s a Garmin/Wahoo out front mount and bell in one. The bell is almost invisible and still very easy to reach.
Here in the Netherlands you definitely need a bell with all the people on the road / bicycle paths. |

I liked the design of the knog, if a little overwrought and fiddly. I like the tone too, in the house. On the road it's just not loud enough. Especially in the presence of ambient noise like rain it sounded really sounded wimpy. It seemed like rain itself affected the loudness too, didnt just mask it. The Spurcylcle is high pitched and shrill in the house, but sounds not as harsh on the road. The tone is acceptable and its plenty loud. That is the trade-off with a compact bell- you will not get a tone like on those big Crane bells

Air horn. No bell is loud enough when dealing with people using earphones on the MUTs.

I got 2 Oi bells. One broke fairly quickly, Knog was excellent in sending a replacement with no hassles but the replacement broke within a couple weeks in the same manner.
The other is still going but I agree, the sound is lacking. We will see how long it lasts. I replaced the one that broke with a Spurcycle and I am very happy with it. They have a Franken-bell sale around halloween if you want to save some $ |

I paid around $40 for a product that looks super cool, but broke almost immediately because their first batch had a chintzy plastic & spring hammer.
No offer from them to replace for free, but they did send me a 10% coupon to use towards future Knog products. So, yeah, I'll always remember that about them as a company and post accordingly. |
