2 weeks ago, bought this "Hubli" for $250 at a Velo Bourse in Switzerland. Columbus tubing, Shimano 600 tricolor groupset (7 speed 53/42 & 13-21 cassette), Mavic Tubular wheels. Dates from 1987/88, but looks like new

Changed tyres and saddle and gave it a good service. Took it out on weekly club ride - 85km (53 miles), with over 1000m (3300ft) climbing, 2h20 mins, 36.5kpg (23mph), kept up with modern superbikes... simply awesome

Downtube shifting while riding in close formation in a peloton is "interesting"

Now we know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that it really comes down to the "rider", not the bike.

Can we have a picture of the rider instead?

Picture of me after approx 8000m (25000ft) climbing on a successful Everesting race last year (that I won)

I love old bikes as much as I love the latest superbikes but this bike felt "special" and "right" immediately, it's comfortable, climbs and sprints well, I think that when a bike fits well and rides well, it is easy to ride at a fast average pace.

I have never ridden a bike that got so much interest, an unrelated group of Swiss riders stopped to have a chat and admire the bike, after I passed them up a long climb, and then stopped for the rest of my group to catch up

i am fixing up my "utility bike".

we have a ton of local parks and i'm tired of driving to them, so a flat pedal runabout bike is in order.

need a cage capable of carrying a big water bottle, some new grips and a way to carry a U-Lock and i'm on the road!

Get a basket. You’ll thank me. I have this in my Wald and it’s nice especially if you might be riding in the rain: https://www.outershelladventure.com/shop/137-basket-bag

Oh, hell yeah! I was watching one like this (maybe even the same one?) on eBay and bailed because it was just a bit too big.

same one I am sure - I have been on the hunt for a CSi/Colorado for some time - had to have a steel fork and bi-lam lugs - this one came up so I picked it up - paid more than I hoped to but in the end its was still cheap for what it is
