SS Coupling spanner alternative

I have a buyer for a SS coupled bike lined up but they want the spanner that I have misplaced while moving house recently. Is there an alternative to this that is not a mail order purchase away ?
thanks

I prefer the Hozan lockring tool. You might find one at a local bike shop that sells higher end bicycles, but they’re easy to find online.

i take it for the S&S, only the hook type side is used and the other side is a regular pedal wrench 14mm...?

According to what i can see, an S&S coupling requires a 1"-1 3/8" hook type wrench. These are offered by numerous bike tool suppliers, but you can also go to your local hardware store, i guess

yes thanks. It's really just to tide him over until I find the original tool It's a 15mm pedal wrench.

I should say I have not tested the Hozan on a lot of different couplers. I have tested it on 1.125 , 1.25 and 1.375 old style couplers. The new ones are smaller diameter.

Also it is longer so less packable I guess.

The thing to be sensitive to is the fact that the Hozan wrench is longer the S&S wrench, so it can apply more torque. I think S&S Machine has (or had) a note on their website cautioning about over-torquing the coupler. The Hozan wrench works better, but you don’t want to ham-fist it. It just needs to be snug.
