here outside DC we got some eclipse, but since I didn't bother with eclipse glasses, I couldn't see much.
It was like it got cloudy for a bit then was over M |

Very cloudy here. Got several minutes of a small break in clouds about an hour before max coverage.
Lots of sun two hours later. The one time the weather forecast is accurate... |

Not far from you but within totality and clouds thinned out and had a great view. It was simply awesome. Even able to see some large flares with the naked eye during totality. Skies were fully cleared just after and had some great views as the moon slipped off the sun.

My hack for the weather was to install a red lens filter on my hasselblad and look through the view finder. It made the light from the sun pop through the clouds.

I have to say, I wasn't all that interested in the eclipse. We're in the total path here in Northern Vermont and there are literally hundreds of thousands of people that came to see it. I went for a nice gravel ride this morning and there were people parked everywhere.
We're lucky to have a bunch of land and a great spot to see it, so we had a bunch of people come and watch - drink beer and do some general hanging. I busted out my full frame Sony with a 200-600 lens and snapped this shot. I have to say, the whole thing was pretty impressive. The weirdest thing that happened, was the mosquitos came out! We had snow here 2 days ago and now there are mosquitos. We also heard coyotes howling. There's a big pack near us and they howl at night, but they must have been confused. Pretty cool overall. You can just see the red on the bottom left. I wish it came out better in the photos. I looked at it with binoculars and it was amazing! |

Ohio did me right. Heavy overcast this morning, and cleared to high overcast by showtime. I think, compared to my last time in 2017, the clouds acted as a filter and softened up the pictures. A bit less detail, but still very pleased.
The prison turned out to be a great place to do this. Toured it before, then got fried OREOs (see above) during. Two great things today. Fried OREOs. Why haven't I had them until now?? Think Beignet, but with a chocolaty center. |

Houlton Maine was amazing eclipse viewing. The whole town was out and everyone erupted in cheers at totality. Not a cloud in the sky. Really unforgettable.

My sister's neighbor (she lives on the mid-coast) drove up to Jackman. We looked at the Google traffic info afterwards, and there was a lot of dark red in the southbound lane... |
