Also agree that the Sugino 601 and 901 are a good match, both mechanically and visually.

fwiw if a 50x13 high gear works for you, a 46x12 gives you the same high gear, which would free up some capacity. That's going to lower all the high gears a bit, but you may just stay in smaller cogs longer, or spin more.

34-46x12-28 would put you at 28t, very close to the std 26t rating. If you split the diff and did 34-48, you're only going to 30t wrap, which should work fine.
