OT - Using Apple Airtags for theft

Gotta say, it's pretty clever.
While we're figuring out where to put them on our bikes, these guys come up with a way to get your vehicles.

Has anyone actually had experience using AirTags finding stuff?
Isn't it only as safe as how well you hide the tag?
I'd imagine if a theft saw this shiny apple tag on your bike they'd simply just remove it

I was thinking about getting one for my pet in one of those collar attachments
That seems relatively safe but I am not too sure on the accuracy of a moving object (i.e. a sprinting pup) lol
