OT: SUP tidbit

I know that there are some stand up paddleboard fans on the paceline. Thought this might be of interest.

Must of been on an iSUP. We've been staying cool around here in the 90+ temps. Here's William Jr. on a 14' Naish Glide beating the heat....

I was on my way up to a race last night and passed a SUP shop service vehicle. The business name was "SUP Yo". I like it.

make me hip to the distinction of an iSUP

Saw a bunch of SUPs on the Potomac recently, as well. Very tempting.

Inflatable SUP's. The choice for the white water rapid riders for their tuffness and ability to run over rocks, or when space or easy travel is a consideration. These are not your old inflatable mattresses.

Some fun vids of the ULI boards. They are bombproof, and the video of the guy in the pool shows him running over his with a Harley and a pick up truck to show how tuff they are.

Lots of fun and a great workout!

A dog park pal was all nuts about the inflatable. I like that you can backpack it i t spots that otherwise would be difficult to access if carrying a board.

At first I thought "yeah right, and inflatable.", after I saw one on the local CL. Then I started looking into them more and realized they are very rigid, stable and tuff. By that point I realized that Uli on the CL was a pretty sweet deal. It sold the day before I inquired about it. I don't own one but I would grab one if the right deal came along. Though, they really aren't any cheaper than a standard SUP. But for a family board for the kids to knock around, or river running where hitting rocks is inevitable, traveling or no space to store a board they make sense.

There's one for sale on the Zone in your neck of the woods....

Also, just thinking out loud here.....some of the builders already working in carbon fiber: SUP'ing is the fastest growing leisure activity/sport in the world right now and carbon fiber paddles are the schiznit.

Hmmm, custom CF paddles built to your personal geometry for recreation and racing.

Of course. standard Carbon paddles are too puny and wimpy. We need a big blade for more power and hold with little flex. And after 6 hours of paddling from Molokai 2 Oahu, fit is everything.

Of course! And when you're paddling for 6 hours from Molokai 2 Oahu, you want a paddle that's vertically compliant and planes like it's on rails!

Just got back from almost four hours on the water with my kids. Quads are burning so good! Now I just need a Crumpton or a Serotta Kahuna Meivici big blade paddle to top it off.

If you are paddling Molokai to Oahu, job 1 is to not become shark meat.

on local CL, seems cheap. http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/sgd/3888876364.html

Close by, I could check it out.
