wrench help: r7000 rd install

got one. came with housing. housing has white plastic slide-out liner. what the heck is that? and a silver ferrule with a teeny tiny hole in it.. what is that and where is supposed to go. can't wait for 12 speed .

i read that doc...when i was tired

and missed a couple things but accidentally did it correctly. can you say if Shimano-branded shift housing all has a removable liner or just this one piece they provide that goes to the rear derailleur?

Shimano OT-RS900 Rear Derailleur Loop

could not understand Shimano's instructions so ended up using normal gear housing. Still wondering if anyone has clarity on where the alloy ferrule goes and where the plastic thing with the tongue goes? And which end of the housing to cut when shortening to length. There's plastic liner inside the housing that has a lip on one end and not on the other. Please explain.

I don't have that special cable so I'm going to try without it. Metal ends goes on the derailleur side
