Affordable Gravel Wheel Recommendations

I need a pair of new wheels for my gravel bike, a 2018 Orbea Terra M31.

Disc Brakes (SRAM Rival, 160mm centerline)
Tubeless ready
Sufficient for 40mm max
SRAM Rival 1 (1x11)
12x100 front, 12x142 rear

I don't want to put junk on it, but nothing too fancy/spendy. Secondhand is great.

I barely ever know what I'm talking about, so if I need to add more info please just let me know.

Budget, secondhand, maybe no more than around $500, and lower priced options are dandy.

I am either going to run this bike as a general purpose knockabout or sell it, so no frills needed.

Thanks.

I have a wheelset I took off my ibis Hakka I’d sell for $300. Stan’s crest rims to ibis hubs. Pm if interested.

When I sold my Lynskey I got some Fulcrum pulls so I could keep my carbon wheels.

$120 US with discs and cassette as new, even had orig tires with 2 rides on them.

They were soo heavy, BUT I did not feel that weight rolling. I have since bought 2 more wheelset, one 650b. Look great, strong, cheap... if you don't care if they are 1-2lb heavier IMO you can not go wrong with the level that comes with lynskey builds.

I got a deal on my carbons with 240S hubs and is was 8x the cost, used yet minty.

We have our GVL wheelsets that would fit the bill.

We're making the rims for them now in South Carolina.

There's a set of Stan's grail wheels on the classifieds. Well under your budget.

Yup, looks like poorly drilled holes in the rim. Not ‘pointing’ at the flange. Ya see this on some rims where the hole drilling isn’t directional, pointed at flange but just drilled on centerline of rim, pointing at center of hub flange. Aluminum nipples don’t help.

I have the 5's. A solid wheel, but a little heavy. I'll be upgrading soon, as well.

^This. I had a local wheelbuilder do me some gravel/cx wheels on Bitex hubs, HED rims, Sapim spokes - £400. Solid as.

If you don't need superlight/aero/latest and greatest, I'd always go to a good wheelbuilder for wheels.
