Ouch -- cactus content
Wow, this looks pretty painful. Google translation of the caption is "The good thing about cycling is the contact with nature."

Yikes! The last time the missus and I went trail riding in Arizona -- and the reason that the last time the missus and I went trail riding in Arizona was over 10 years ago -- she slid out in a loose sandy curve and fell into a a cactus. Didn't look nearly as catastrophic as the guy in that picture, but it still put the kibosh on our ride and on the rest of our vacation. I think it took almost a month for all the thorns to reveal themselves and get extracted.

Words of advice from the leader of a mountain bike ride I went on in Tucson:
If you know you're going down, and you see broken glass on one side of the trail, and a cactus on the other side, aim for the broken glass. |

Looks like this guy may have been riding on the road, and the cacti were just on the side of the road. I can't image how long it will take to get all of the needles removed.

LOL... Those are argentinians.... north accent...
Guy says... "Quie... quiet that is all (something i cant really hear well) ah!" ----Im going to get the one in back out but i want you to take one step forward... guy moves and the guy in the background says... "i separate myself from the route??" Imagine he is talking with somebody because had to move off its route due to the accident?.... then the guy with glasses says "im going to remove the one in the middle, if you can spread the legs"... Poor bastard... that was a good crash |

As Bob Ross said, months. Those are called 'Jumping Cholla'. The worst of the worse cacti.

Thanks...that's what she called them. They look equally nasty.

Ha! Growing up in Arizona, you just learn to slow down, tune out the pain, and methodically remove them.
They’re natures obstacle course. |

I know. She was wrong. Cholla are nastier.

This guy must be a rookie. A seasoned rider would be worried about his bike first.

That is why my son, who is an avid backcountry hiker, always carries pliers.
