Taking bets on whether he gets time cut before or after Stage 11 like his last tour.

This definitely makes things more interesting. I will stand by my previous comment, I think he can still win a sprint if he makes it to the end of the stage with the bunch. I don't know how many stages that will be true for, and I don't know if he can make the time cut in the mountains.

Parlaying that with whether he wins a stage before said Stage 11 time cut?

If Bennett couldn't go, and it sounds like he couldn't because of the knee, then Cav is the obvious choice.

Well there are very few teams left who can put together a legit sprint-train, and DQS is probably the best at it. My guess is they go all-in for Cav when the stage suites him, most likely stages 3, 4, or 6.

the opening stages are much more tailored for Alaphilippe, so I suspect they'll ride for him and the maillot jaune first, then try to get Cav a win as a secondary goal.

“I cannot prove that he does not have knee pain, but I am starting to think more and more that it is more fear of failure than just pain. Yesterday he had to come to Belgium, but then there were problems with his plane again. Then you start to think strange things. He’ll have to come anyway. I’m not going to let this pass.”
