Laid down the RSL/SLR Domane on todays ride.
Not hit ground since 1999.
Honking out of the saddle right pedal let go, pretty new cleats too. May have had small rock or something. Looking at cleat, I see nothing suspect. Wound up against cable barrier and hit thigh on 3rd post after just missing a few. My thigh took brunt on corner of 12x12 post before I got bike under control. Probably still doing 10 mph @ impact. Hemotoma city and tweeked back. Dididn't even tear thru shorts, and spilled on right side of bike. Few scratches, front wheel slight tweek, bar tape etc. two spots right arm rash. Rode one legged 1/2 mile to friends and got busy icing it. Not been down since 1999...

Ouch, did the pedal spindle break?
Glad that you didn't hit your head or anything! I would get the hematoma (if it is a hematoma) drained after a day or so. I failed to do so promptly back in 1982 following a m/c accident on the road, and the hematoma bump is unfortunately still with me (I got it drained a delayed four weeks after the accident during a tibia fracture followup).

What do you mean when you say the pedal "let go"?
Heal up quick! It definitely hurts more and takes longer to shake off as the years pile up, that's for sure!

Sorry to hear you went down; glad it's not more serious and the bike sounds like it came through pretty well.
Good reminder that it can happen to the best of us when we least expect it. I was thinking about one more ride before my knee replacement Tuesday, but now I'm thinking it's like the guy who says "just one more run" at the end of the ski day.... This is more specific to surgery, but check out some of Kelly Starrett's rehab recommendations here. Heal fast! May give you a little more time with the guitar for a bit.
