Veloce Qs 10 speed shifter question

I just finished a ride...and now my Veloce left side shifter will not downshift. The thumbie is frozen, chain is in the big ring. Any easy trouble shoots?

Less than 600km on it btw.

Are you sure it's the shifter and not the cable or derailer?

I would check the B.B. cable guide and the cable end inside th shifter to make sure nothing is gummed up. Also click the paddle a few times - sometimes on 10 speed the ratchet will (I guess) get partially engaged so that you can’t click the other way.

I bet it's just jammed. Try moving the shift lever up, out, back, etc, push button for down, etc. My 10 speed gets jammed occasionally.

Has the hood twisted on the body of the shifter? I had that problem when I moved a Veloce 10s group to a new frame and ran new cables.

Flipped the bike over, yanked on the cable, flipped again and cranked on the thumbie. Success!

I'm thinking gremlins.

Check to see thumb button is pivoting..if it isn't, it will stay engaged to the shift disc...no shift..lube that pivot point..otherwise send it to me and I'll fix it.
