chapter2 bikes

Out for a ‘beat the snowstorm’ ride today (what a crazy February… 60° yesterday, snow today, and 60° again next week). Anyway stopped at a local shop to warm up a bit and shoot the breeze.

Saw this display frameset. Neil Pryde and his son Mike run the company.

Beautiful, even moreso in person.

Head of the company did an interview here and seems very dedicated to making good bikes:

I have a Kaha coming in sand in a few weeks. I’m really looking forward to it.

I’ve been eyeing a Rere frame for a while. Seems like it could be a low budget S5.

That tells me that they’re NOT built in NZ. China or Taiwan I’d suspect.

Neil Pryde bikes were made by, at the time, the best carbon bike factory in China. the factory made some of the best known brands high end models we are all familiar with and continues to do so today. I am not certain where Chapter2 are made but assume Mike would use similar. He’s a passionate cyclist that still races and adventures and I got to hang out with him for a week in Thailand.

I raced on their Neil Pryde Alize in the amateur stage race Thailand tour of friendship in 2012 and met the crew behind Neil Pryde bikes when they co sponsored the event with Rapha. I really liked the bike and rode and raced it many times. Rapha sponsored our two teams with black and white classic kits, and i still use their jerseys to this day because i liked that one so much.

Dave made a video of the race for Rapha and Neil Pryde if anyone is curious about international cycling events. This one is an awesome event and cultural experience and Im happy to hear it continues. Mike said he’d be there this year. I bet if you go a Chapter2 could be arranged to ride!

The Rere is one of very few rim brake framesets available if rim brakes are your thing
