Front dynamo light mount

I’m looking to mount a Edelux to a Surly front rack.

Most of other racks I’ve had had horizontal mountain points which there are plenty of light mounts for.

The Surly 8 pack rack has vertical mounts. I’m unsure if there are light mounts for these racks.

I’m looking to mount to the side of the rack, preferably.

But if I can’t find anything, a front mount (they face straight forward, as seen in the picture) would be ok as well.

my preference

Maybe something like this.
https://www.jensonusa.com/Problem-So...yABEgJtxvD_BwE

or search google
"quick release light hanger for bike"

I use one of these. Some complain that having the light low creates longer shadows. but I've been using this type of mount for years. a friend machined me a similar one that uses a bottle bolt to hold the light instead of a handlebar clamp.

Couple of advantages. 1. gets the Light out of the way from most things, easy to adjust beam, no need to disconnect coupler to the hub to fix a flat.

Ride safe,

You probably just want a steel L bracket, a couple m5 bolts and a nylock nut. Maybe throw in in a split washer for extra security. Flip the optics on the light and run inverted/upsidedown.

The Nitto lamp holder #6 is pretty much this if you can't DIY:

Perfect. Do any of you know how thick the Nitto struts are? The Surly strut is 10mm.

I'm actually seeing a compatibility issue with the design. The Surly rack is 1 piece. There's no way to slide the lamp holder over the strut. You still might be able to fashion something out of the bracket though and ditch the hardware that fastens it to a strut.

Something like this might still be your best bet until you find something cleaner.

Here's what someone did on a 24 pack rack. Seems simple enough, but I'd be inclined to neaten it up a bit (and put it on the other side of the rack). Maybe tie it to the rack strut for additional support. Looks like a typical rack strut was used.

I assume you don't have the hanging Edelux?

This Tubus bracket ought to work with one of your front mounts. https://www.modernbike.com/tubus-light-bracket-black
