The shipping box is very sturdy....but after a couple years, it got a little beat up and did have to reinforce or rebuild it with a bunch of duct tape.
yeah I am using an aftermarket hitch so the collar will help. I also ordered a Rack Stash so I can hang it on the garage wall.

Needless to say, I’m a big fan of the 1Up-USA racks. These are the Equip-D models. I have a 1 bike extension that I can add to either. I love how compact they are when not in use. They work great with my 29er mountain bike, my fatbike with 4.6” tires, and my road bike. Just got the second one for my wife’s 26er mountain bike. Replaced a Yakima Dr. Tray we never really liked.

Got email that the rack is being shipped and it will be here on Saturday.

For reference, I ordered on 9/21 and got delivery email on 9/30. Pretty good.

Coincidentally, I am having a class III 2" hitch receiver installed by U-Haul scheduled on the same day. Hopefully the racks will be here when I am back from U-Haul.

It is here

It is so nice, and so well built.

Question: How many of you add a chain and lock in addition to the hitch lock?

The 3 times I've left my bike on the rack while running into a store I threw a cable lock on it that I keep in the back.

I plan to do that too in addition to the wheel locks I ordered.

I was thinking more like this since the hitch could be easily defeated:

I got the lock for the rack/receiver interface. That would be tough to cut.

Additionally, I bought the locks that go through the wheels and wheel supports when I bought the rack. I’ve used them several times and love them. I feel safe leaving the bike and rack unattended.

I have the wheel locks too. One thing I read is that you should run a cable through the frame (maybe thread the cable through the wheel lock) so opportunists can undo the QR/TA and take the frame away.

Excited about a bike rack (1Up)

For a garage storage solution buy a bolt on hitch mount for $25 from Amazon. Search QP-HS5839 Bolt-On Receiver Tube. I mounted mine in a 2x8 frame on caster so that can roll the rack around the garage easily. Great rack!

Oh, I have the 1UP lock on the hitch, really nice and low profile.

That is pretty cool. I installed their rackstash mount. Pretty nice and good looking at 2X cost.

I have that. It came with the rack. It is the slot hitch lock.
