Rivnut Tool?

I've got a project frame in the stand that needs a bottle cage bolt rivnut replaced. Anyone have experience with one of the cheaper tools? will this get it done?

I had one from harbor freight and it was fine for me. I lost it or I would send it to you. It came with the nuts also.

This is supposed to be all that you need.

Agree. No need for a fancy tool.

Since you ride a "toy frame" (small) not sure you can fit the tool you linked. The others work fine.

I bought this kit and it works great. If you are like me, you will suddenly find all sorts of things that need a rivnut.

If you're only setting ONE Rivnut you don't even need anything that fancy. A long bolt, a few nuts and flat washers and a couple of wrenches and Bob's your uncle.

I've always just used a quick release skewer, works fine if your rivnut is aluminum. Probably wouldn't work with steel, but I would only want steel rivnuts on a steel frame, and then I would be looking for someone with a torch.

I've done this, and its tricky to keep the QR skewer square as you tighten the lever. It requires a couple resets until its tight, but it does work. The nuts/, washer method would be my choice if I didn't have the proper tool. I prefer the type where the handles are perpendicular to the bolt, although if you need to set anything bigger than a water bottle cage the one Angry linked has better leverage.

Like this one above.

All of a sudden I'm thinking of a lot of applications for a rivnut. I would rather not use one on a bike, if possible.

i concur that titanium frames should just be made with welded bosses, but sadly, many are not.
