Safety glass- bike tire punctures?
Hi all,
Every time I ride over ( or around ) automobile safety glass, I wonder if it’s less probable that I’ll flat in comparison to like glass from a broken bottle. Or, not at all because of the nature of the way it breaks-forms. Thoughts? Thank you all in advance, Steve

It’s supposed to be less sharp when it shatters. That’s not to say it’s not sharp. That being said I don’t want any type of broken glass near my tires if possible.

Safety glass certainly has fewer shards, and more chunks, but the edges of the chunks can still be quite sharp. I try to avoid any of that stuff. On the other hand, I once got a puncture from a 2mm long bit of thin copper wire. If your number's up, it's up, and there isn't much you can do about it (unless you want to put anti-flat glop in your tubes or tires, but I don't flat often enough to justify doing that).

"safety" glass can and absolutely still will cut - i recently had 18 stitches in my left forearm to prove it

For me, it's bottle glass, flints-rocks, wire-staples-nails, pinch flats. Never car window glass. I commute in the city and ride through lots of broken window glass. As kids, we filled our pockets with it. It makes good sling shot amo.
