I'd love to hear more about the Rat Traps, standard or extralight, challenge dialing in pressure, how do they handle at speed and in the turns, general riding impression?

Nice setup. I've been thinking of doing something similar with an old 26" mtn bike I've got kicking around. What was the change in handling like going from straight mtn bars to drop bars?

Yeah, that's really tempting me to abandon 29" for my next backwoods bike. "Who needs suspension", that's what I used to ask in the '90s!

Hi, the trail is basically Gunsight Trail which start on Sir Francis Drake. Rd at Whites Hill on the outskirts of Fairfax in Marin. It goes along the ridge the separates San Geronimo and Lucas Valley. It end at the top of the hill on Lucas Valley road in Lucas Valley.

Be forewarned there is a sustain 10-18% grade climb that always seems very hot. Even today, I unzipped my jersey.

Joosttx, I rode on some dirt today with a friend and I mentioned how your rides/pictures are amongst my favorites. Oh, and your Instagram rules too

Some of mine today. Not Cali style but we do the best with what we have

standard weight tires. i pump them up pretty high in pressure to keep the ride reasonably firm, they handle very well at speed, but the turning is a bit less "crisp" than with lower volume tires.you get used to the ride pretty quickly though and it is quite predictable.

i'm considering riding this thing at deerfield this year!

geekhouse ti

i read somewhere that the ideal way to let a bike know who's boss is to make the first ride a 100 mile gravel ride with 11,000 feet of climbing. it seems like an amazing bike so far. this should break it in nicely!
