Another Saddle Bag Recommendation Thread

I have the Topeak Wedge Pack and it works well and I can carry everything I need in it. However, the saddle rail mounting bracket is taking too much valuable real estate for position adjustment for the current bike/saddle combo.

The default choice is buy the velcro strap version:

https://www.topeak.com/global/en/pro...ERO-WEDGE-PACK

But I also wonder if there better choices that the forum members can recommend?

I like this one from Arkel: https://www.arkel-od.com/seat-bag/

It's waterproof, and when you need to access it, the waterproof bag comes fully out of the carrier. So, you don't have to dig around in the bag while it's still on the bike.

They seem to be sold out of all the colors though Perhaps another vendor has some in stock.

I use the Lyzene Road Caddy. I like that it's small and it is super secure.

I looked through several threads for suggestions and never could find something that matched what i was looking for in terms of looks, size and ease of switching bikes. Then I just happened to find this bag from PRO and I've been pretty happy with it. Meets all my needs and I'm happy with the appearance.

I typically fit a spare tube, patch kit, multi-tool, tire lever, CO2, CO2 head, and there's a little room to spare if i wanted to put anything else like money, or a larger tool in there.

PRO also has their own two-bolt mounting system which you choose from their saddlebags, or can adapt your own bag to.

I'm a big fan of the Outer Shell mini: https://outershell.com/shop/mini-saddlebag

(It might not address your real estate issue though).

Do you have a link to that? I can't find it in their website. If that works for me to attach the current bag it will be great because I actually drilled and attached a Garmin mount in the back for the Varia.

This is their direct mount bag:

This is the bracket if you wanted to start somewhere:

Or just spend a half hour with a hammer, drill, belt sander/grinder, and some aluminum.

I really like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/BV-Bicycle-Cy.../dp/B00MWD240M

One reason is I can easily fit my Lezyne mini pump in it and it does not look huge.

I'm a big fan of the Ortlieb Micro bags.. they do mount on the rail, but I've always been able to get them pretty far back, even to where the rails sweep up to attach to the saddle.

Good pics of it mounted here:

ooh this is nice and the mounting position is what I am looking for. Easy for quick release too.

yep, I've had a few of these and have always been impressed.. just don't leave it laying beside the road after you take it off to get something out.. ask me how I know about that..

Looks nerdy but I too like the Ortlieb bag. Very easy to switch between bikes with a couple of mounts. And is very secure.

Picked up an Orucase Saddle Bag HC a few weeks back for keeping tools out of jersey on longer rides. Very solid build, has internal organization, waterproof zipper, and uses a ski strap to mount. 5/5

This is the one to get. Simple and elegant.

Doesn’t look like a suitcase hanging from the seat.
