Bora 33/35 or 45/50 - which depth?
Following up on the earlier post, I’m planning to get myself a set of boras In The near future, looking for the right pair.
I’ll be running rim brake clinchers, as my everyday wheels for dry weather. My disc brake bike gets pulled out for any wet weather. If you were to get a set of everyday wheels, which depth would you go for on the boras. The Bora One 35/WTO 33 or the Bora ONE 50/WTO 45s? I’m deciding between the Bora One and WTOs at this point and need to see what the deals are out there... In any event, would love to hear what folks think about the 2 depths... no racing for me, just group rides, some centuries, and training. Planning to kick butt indoors this winter and come out stronger than ever in the spring and want to treat myself to some fast wheels. Just rolling hills around here, no mountains for me... Have at it folks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd say 45s. Even in the gnarliest crosswinds, the 60s I have handle surprisingly well. Deeper the better yo.

I've been very happy with my Ultra 35's. I had a set of Bullet Ultra 50's prior to them. I went with the 35s due to wind buffeting as the 50's at speed were a bit sketchy at times. With the 35's no issue at all. That said, the WTOs have a different cross section and a supposed to be less prone to buffeting.
If I was in your shoes I'd buy the WTOs in a 45. Go big or go home! Last edited by Hellgate; 12-15-2020 at 08:10 PM. |

WTO45 > Bora50
Have Bora 50s and had the opportunity to ride WTO45s for a couple hundred miles over the summer. While I've not found the 50s overly susceptible to gusts, I am a fan of the wider rim bed, ability to run tubeless of the WTO45.
Its difficult to quantify or express but the WTO45 have a little extra magic whether going up, down or cornering. that's my 2 cents |

45’s are hardly affected by wind vs the 35’s which can still get blown around a lot on very gusty days. I have 45’s and haven’t looked back. If weight is more of a priority, would go 33’s. The finish of the carbon on the WTOs are incredible also, compared to the previous gen, which are no slouch. The wider rim of the 45’s allow for wider width of the same tires too when blown up. The feel of that to me is the most noticeable difference, rather than weight or aero.

If you are not sure of a 45, look at the fulcrum speed 40. Same rim as wto but 5mm shallower. All around excellent build and as mentioned, same 2 way fit rim. The handle crosswinds very well.

I have Bora Ultra 35's and if I had the chance to swap to the WTO (either depth) I would do it instantly. The optimized aero shape is faster and MUCH better in crosswinds.

I have both 50 and 45's I would go for the 45's better in crosswinds, can fit tubeless and a wider profile.. love wto 45

Did they update the Fulcrum wheel finally? All the specs I can find still show the Fulcrum rim brake rims as having the earlier 17mm internal and 24.2mm external width.
