Smallbike PSA

Taking cue from the Bigbike thread, us shorties need our own heads up thread for small frames/completes.

I'll start:

51cm Serotta Colorado Ti - $1,250

48cm Colnago Tecnos Rabobank - $2k

48cm On-One Pompino frameset - $325 BIN

Somewhat off-topic, but how do you approach sellers located a few thousand miles away? Most refuses to engage once told that the prospective buyer is not local.

As someone fitting in the "short" category, threads like these are appreciated.

Teeny Bianchi - 44/46 cm on 650c wheels - $900.

I don't mean that as derogatory. I just had no idea they were made that small.

Can facilitate.

I dig this thread, as I ride small frames too.

And we each amass more small frames (fueled by this thread) maybe we can consider a small frame swap thread, as we seem to have similar tastes . . .

I nominate above for this thread's motto

Also, I haven't seen that FF setback post design before, only a version that has the bend lower down, a la Thomson (which I don't like). New design?

1. Find a person local to the seller (facilitator/proxy/enabler)

2. Contact the seller over the phone to explain the situation and assure them that they don't have to deal with shipping the bike unless they don't mind.

3. Have the facilitator contact the seller and make the sale like a local buyer and hope they don't ride off with your bike.

1 & 2 can be interchanged, but it's smoother if the facilitator follows up ASAP instead of you scrambling to find someone local while the seller waits to hear from you while they're receiving other offers. Some sellers may be willing to ship the bike themselves, but be understandable that it's a PITA for a seller, which is why most won't.

Thanks for chiming in. What's a reasonable compensation for the facilitator?

Also, I presume the most prudent thing to do is to use paypal purchase to pay the facilitator 1.03x (x being the purchase price), so that the facilitator won't be out on anything?
